JAM Club
Jesus And Me, or JAM Club,is, as the name suggests, all about introducing Jesus to Primary School Children in an interesting and
fun way.
It is a Christian Education Programme jointly funded by the Wanaka
Presbyterian and Anglican Churches.
We meet in the Presbyterian Hall, Tenby Street, from 3 - 4.15pm every
Tuesday that school is open.
In 2003 we have 16 children taught by 4 teachers using the Scripture
Union SALT Syllabus.
In our regular programme we greet the children with a cold drink and
biscuit in the Hall and then have a time together with songs, prayer,
and sometimes puppets or a video, in the Presbyterian Church.
This is followed by class teaching according to age. However this
pattern is frequently altered to include;
visiting speakers, visiting other churches, and joining together for
art or drama sessions. Often we will act out various stories from the
Bible using our special Wanaka environment. eg Lake Wanaka makes the
stories about Lake Galilee come alive and a house-boat trip was a
wonderful Noah's Ark!
A highlight each year is the presentation of a Christmas Pageant at a
Combined Church Service.
As part of our Pentecost celebrations each new member of JAM Club is
presented with their own Bible - a gift from the 2 churches.
Children can start at any time during the year and there is no
financial contribution required.
Enquiries are welcomed.
